Pasar teknologi handset di Indonesia memang tergolong unik. Adapun keunggulan BlackBerry adalah pada masalah tarif nya yang flat (untuk pascabayar), terutama untuk aplikasi unggulannya, yaitu Push E-mail dan BlackBerry Messenger (BBM).

Aplikasi BBM ini lah yang menjadikan BlackBerry banyak digemari di Indonesia yang sangat senang dengan komunikasi by teks, menurut survei beberapa vendor handset besar.

BlackBerry juga punya keunggulan dalam pengiriman email dan WEB browsing dengan kompresi dua kali sehingga bisa mendapatkan push e-mail real time lebih cepat dan menghemat bandwidth GPRS/EDGE.

BlackBerry juga punya keunggulan pada integrasi dengan layanan instant messaging seperti Yahoo! Messenger dan G-talk.

Membuka attachment email juga lebih cepat di mana akses cepat ini ada hubungannya dengan kompresi yang sangat sempurna dari RIM.

Adapun kelemahan BlackBerry adalah handset sering hang yang mengharuskan pengguna mengeluarkan baterai dari tempatnya dengan proses re-boot yang sangat lama, yaitu 3-8 menit. Sedangkan Android belum ada keluhan dari penggunanya mengenai handset yang hang. Proses re-boot pada Android pung berlangsung cepat.

Karena banyak menawarkan aplikasi, baterei pada Android lebih boros dari BlackBerry, kecuali penggunanya memiliki banyak akun e-mail sehingga sangat sering menerima pesan e-mail baru.
Dari sisi user interface, BlackBerry lebih membosankan, sedangkan pada Android lebih bervariasi dan lebih mudah digunakan.
